Why does a cell reproduce?
A cell will divide for one of three purposes, sexual reproduction, growth and cell replacement. Cell division is best explained by saying that a cell breaks apart into two halves. The nucleus is divided among the two parts and DNA is copied in both parts. It is important that both copies of the cell have exactly the same genetic information or problems can arise later on. |
